Can somone please tell me how to get my WhatsApp to also translate just like this screen? I've been looking all over the internet for the built-in translation in WhatsApp but for the life of me I can't find any button that let's you translate anything and I really don't want to use Google translate separately as it's just such a hassle. Please, can anyone tell me anything on how to do it like that? I would really appreciate it.

Also, I'm not talking about the keyboard translation, I've been using that for a while, I'm talking about the WhatsApp itself. How he sees the Italian and right under it is the English translation.

Click on the little magic AI sign on the keyboard, then click on chat translation, this bar should pop up at the top of the screen and it should show in WhatsApp like your screenshot.

Select the text. Long press the home button. Select the translate button.

This works for me.

Hi Kathrin5117,

It looks like the feature in the image might be an auto-translation feature within WhatsApp.

Currently, WhatsApp itself does not have a native translation feature that works as shown in your image.

You can use Google Translate Tap-to-Translate. Enable "Tap to Translate" in the Google Translate app settings on your phone. Once enabled, you can copy a message in WhatsApp, and a Google Translate bubble will appear, allowing you to translate it quickly without leaving the app.

Thank you.

Depends which phone you have.

If you have a phone with galaxy AI in settings
1 - go into settings
2 - go into galaxy AI
3 - go into chat assist
4 - go into chat translation
5 - turn it on
6 - put languages to show as "original and translated text"
7 - go into manage apps and toggle on WhatsApp

And then when you go into WhatsApp or any of the supported apps and click on the bar to start typing to show keyboard, you should see this button to start the translation.

I will not show my personal chats here but works for me.

I find it incredible that a Samsung moderator doesn't even know this chat AI feature 😂😂1730248032246.jpg1730248032264.jpg

No, no, i meant within WhatsApp. Like when you're chatting with someone who.. let's say only knows Italian, but I don't. I don't want to always just copy and paste THEIR message into Google translate and then make my reply (using the built-in translation in smasung keyboard, I've already known about it.) What I meant was see how under this WhatsApp text message, which is in Italian, you then have the English translation right under it? That's what I meant. I want to know how to translate my friends' text messages in WhatsApp, WITHIN WhatsApp.

I don't know how to do it, but I don't want to just be using Google translate to also be copying and pasting their test messages to me in Google Translate.

Btw, i did get this screenshot from MrWhoseTheBoss on YouTube and was just looking all over the internet for that WHATSAPP feature but just couldn't.

I appreciate the very clear instructions, but it wasn't what I needed...1730248717375.jpg20241027_221725_1000015771_1730248706.jpg

I didn't have chat translation enabled so I turned it on. Now there is no option to turn it off. Do you have the option to turn it off? I have an S22.

So if you go into WhatsApp or any other compatible apps, you should see like a little grey bar on the side, for me, it's top right side. Slide that little bar inwards and tap the X, and it should turn off. If you don't see it, you can redo the steps above to get to it by pressing the little AI icon from the keyboard.

Another way would be to go into your phone settings, go into galaxy AI, go into chat assist and toggle off chat translation.1730255635775.jpg1730255664002.jpg

Hi - thanks for the reply.

When I went into settings, I could not turn chat translation off as the option was not available. Since I posted i did some searching and found a lot of others have the same issue. I tried a couple suggestions and now the option to disable chat assistant (after rebooting) is available in settings.

I think the option became available after I enabled Android personalization service in Settings->Security and Privacy->More privacy settings.

With chat translation enabled it works as you describe. :)

On a side note, Samsung keyboard swiping ***. Back to Google!
