Of course you can make 1 866 calls. Who said you couldn't make 1 866 calls? Just make sure you include the other 7 digits of the phone number (example: 18665554567). 1 866 is a toll free number just like 1-800, 1-877 etc.

if you are unable to call toll free numbers, it could potentially be blocked by your provider. Give them a call, and they should be able to assist.

I would call your provider. I've never had this issue and neither has my husband. Once my long distance calls did not work but that was a block on the account by the provider when I changed plans. They removed the block and it worked.

the reason you cannot make 1 866 calls may be because it counts as long distance and is not valid in Canada. your provider may disallow it so you don't run up a huge bill at month end
