Hey Guys, just did a full review of the Z Fold 5 and compared it against the S23 Ultra in a few areas. The Z Fold 5 was awesome in pretty much every area, but I still give the slight edge to the S23 Ultra for camera performance because of the 10X Optical Zoom. The Fold 5 also had a higher geekbench 6 score (if that test is accurate).

Some people mentioned they're actually running both phones with the S23 Ultra being their daily driver.

If someone will décide to make me me a gift, I would chose the S23 Ultra by far. My opinion 😃

I'm using either Z flip 5 or Fold 5 as daily driver. Switching between them 😅 🤣 and keeping the S23 Ultra for when I need that extra boost in photography

How often do you find yourself opening both the flip and fold? I found myself using the cover screen on the Fold so much, that I went back to the S23U for the larger screen.

It all depends. I have zFold4, I unfold all the time. I use Samsung Notes and email app at the same time. I also use Calendar, Email and phone at the same time. Use zFold for ig and tiktok is better than on S23U for sure.

But S23U has the best camera and insert SPen that keep me using it daily. zFold5 has its advantages.

On the flip, I open it all the time to use it as a regular phone. I'm only checking quickly for notifications on the cover screen. Or when I want to set a timer or alarm or stuff like that. Yes, the screen is bigger but still too small to actually do anything. I don't even want to try replying to messages on it lol.

As for the fold, 80% of the time, I'm good with the cover screen. I unfold it when I'm relaxing at home and cozy or when I want to game or consume media. A lot of people complain about the narrow aspect ratio. I actually like it and find it comfortable to use one handed.

Your use is similar to mine on the Fold too. I mostly use the cover screen, but I'm one of the people who want it a bit wider lol, but yea I get the appeal of being able to one hand it and span the entire screen with it folded and more narrow.

Yeah I get why a wider screen would be nice. But honestly speaking, if the front screen was as wide as a normal phone, what would be the point of it being able to unfold? You'd basically never need to unfold since the experience of the front screen is already like a normal phone. So You'd have a normal phone and a tablet.

Would cost you less buying the 2 separate and would also give more of a peace of mind for durability too.

So I get why Samsung is sticking to this form factor. Use the front screen, comfortable enough for one handed use and useful enough to do most things you wanna do. And when the time comes that you really need a bigger screen, unfold.

If I had a foldable that had the same aspect ratio as a S23 Ultra for example, I don't really see myself wanting or needing to do that extra unfolding step to use it.

That's just my point of view though. Of course, anyone else is entitled to their own opinion.

What I would like though is for foldables to have the flagship cameras too. That's all that's missing for me.

That's kinda what I found, I craved a larger screen so much, but rather than unfolding while I was on the go, I would just do my business on the cover screen. Some of their competitors are offering wider cover screens, which are more appealing to me because I'd still be able to unfold it for an even larger screen. I agree, though, if the Fold 5 had a 10X optical, it'd be pretty much perfect.
