In spite of the fact that "one party" requirement for call recording in Canada is legal, both Samsung & Google don't support it.

In other words, there's no good reason why it isn't available.

I've contacted support about it, and Samsung decided not to support it. I told them it was our legal right and denying us that wouldn't look nice in the public eye, or favor well in a court room.

Since before Google stopped supporting it in apps I used a recorded phone call to sue a company and win for breaking federal regulations. They admitted it on the phone and denied it in writing every time.

Good luck with that.. lol

First of all, it's not your "legal right" to have Call Recording from any OEMs, no more than it's anyone's legal rights to have OEMs include call forwarding, Zoom etc.

As for threats of courtrooms.. that's actually hilarious to think about.

The only "legal rights" any consumers have, is that the product does what it is advertised to do... in other words, if your phone has a hardware / software issue that prevents it from being used as a phone, then you have the recourse of repair / replacement under warranty..

If you really need ACR, check out Cubed ACR from the Play Store.

Works fine for me, and it's not free.. ~$15 per year.

See, the issue is. You would be right. If all the phones didn't offer recording, but they do. It's just been switched off. And no one supports apps that allow recording. As for paying for a cubed ACR. Which was the recorder I used to win my lawsuit. Why would I pay additional money when my s23 can do it. They just have to turn the function on.

I'm not sure how well you understand this, but a company that exists in Canada. IE. SAMSUNG CANADA, has to Abide by all our rules and laws. Yes it's their device and they can choose to not have call recorders on them, but they do have them. So since they do have it and they offer it, legally they have to allow us to use it. As it is our right in Canada, and a LAW IN THE CRIMINAL CODE. The right to record calls or conversations with single party consent.

You might think it's hilarious, I don't care. The medical company I Sued thought that too. Until I showed up with my lawyer the recorded call, a transcript and presented it all to their lawyer and insurance company. Who immediately admitted their guilt and tried to keep it out of court to save face. A right is a right, and it's illegal to deny someone access to it. Since it's a feature on the phones they are legally required to turn it on.

Good for you, you posted 2 links to 2 phones that don't offer recording anywhere in an attempt to make a point.

Samsung has call recording. They are choosing to not turn it on. As other countries use samsung call recording on their phone apps all the time.

Nice attempt at a deflection of the point. There is a difference between They can, and won't. And they just Can't and don't.
