Family Hub Videos don’t play on home screen

A few days ago my fridge had an update to the family hub. This update deprecated the Family Hub mobile app and switched over connectivity to use the Smart Things app. It also forced me to rebuild my home page with pictures and videos. However now my videos don’t loop in their frames. You have to click on them and open them in a full screen window to watch them which kinda defeats the purpose. Only the first frame of video is displayed on the Home Screen as a static image.

Hey BrianPa,
We are sorry for the inconvenience caused to you.
Please note that the specifications and features are subjected to be changed after the update. Software updates are released to improve the device's performance and better user experience.
Samsung SmartThings will give you a convenient and upgraded lifestyle. With the SmartThings app, you can easily and efficiently connect to and manage a Smart Refrigerator.
If the SmartThings app has been installed on your mobile and connected with your Family Hub refrigerator, you can control or choose the below options on your family hub.
1. Choose a Fridge/Freezer temperature, Power Cool/Power Freeze
2. Choose Cool Select+ (FlexZone)
3. Choose Inside Fridge
4. Choose Family Hub
5. Choose Accessories
6. Choose HomeCare Wizard

Halston, that didn't answer the question at all and I have the same issue.  A video added to the homescreen is static unless I click on it which goes to full screen and plays.  However, default Samsung videos still play on homescreen without any interaction.  Is there a specific file format required before uploading?

This is a big disappointment. Removing the feature does nothing to improve the user experience as stated by Halston. In fact I'd say it does the opposite of improving the user experience. Please fix.

I have found the same, no video playback and also limited to 6 photos on the Home Screen, really wish I hadn’t updated. At least deprecate the app when functionality is the same.
Really poor and substandard. I’ll avoid Samsung in the future.

FYI, I played around with this last night, and got it working. I had an MP4 video recording on a Samsung Galaxy S21+, which did not play automatically on the Fridge. I downloaded it into ClipChamp (Microsoft's new free video editor on Windows 11), I cropped the video to the size I wanted then exported it as MP4 in 480p resolution. I then uploaded it to my phone, then to the Fridge Share, downloaded it to the Fridge and installed it on the Home page, it immediately started playing in a loop.

I didn't try other resolutions or anything, so I am not sure if it is because the video fits on the display natively, or because it was set to 480p, but I am guessing it is one of those two things. I now get a small laugh watching my Granddog being his usual goofy self every time I open the fridge!
