So if someone doesn't have an esim why would their Samsung Galaxy have an IMEI (eSIM) number?

It's kind of like a fingerprint for your device.

If the device supports eSIM, it will have two IMEI numbers, one for the physical SIM & one for the eSIM.

The IMEI (International Mobile Equipment Identity) number is a unique 15-digit serial number for identifying a device, and every mobile phone in the world has one. These IMEI numbers are stored in a database called the EIR (Equipment Identity Register), which contains information about all valid mobile phone equipment.

I don't use an eSIM currently, but I have both on my S23 Ultra, and only one on my S20 Ultra, for the reasons above 🙂

Hi, Even if a Samsung Galaxy device doesn't have an eSIM, it will still have a physical SIM card slot, and therefore, an IMEI (International Mobile Equipment Identity) number.

The IMEI is a unique identifier for the device and is used for various purposes, including tracking and authentication on the mobile network.

The presence of an IMEI doesn't necessarily indicate the use of eSIM; it's a standard feature on all mobile devices.

Sorry i think you misunderstood me. So this s21 phone doesn't use an esim, it uses a physical SIM. So why would the phone show an IMEI (eSIM) number? Shouldn't it only have the one IMEI?SmartSelect_20231201_201101_Settings_1000016844_1701483061.jpg
