OthersGood morning,
Looking for news or advice about fixing an eARC issue with my Samsung (2020) Q80T (and Yamaha RXV585). Both were purchased together late May 2020 and my setup worked flawlessly including Device link with my PS4, up to last Tuesday night.
Prior to last Wednesday, when turning on Netflix/Disney+/YouTube or Plex through Smart TV functionality, the eARC channel would kick in after a second or two as Audio1 on the Yamaha RXV585 WITH sound since May 2020. **UPDATE** When preforming this action, AUDIO1 would automatically kick in on the Yamaha after a few seconds.
This past Wednesday, I could only get TV audio. When looking at the settings quick menu under sound, the second option (HDMI-CEC) would disappear after a few second and I would need to go into the Sound > Expert menu and toggle OFF and ON (AUTO) eARC to resume sound functionality. Also the TVs included remote stopped controlling the volume on the Yamaha through the HDMI-CEC setting (and all control functionality with the PS4) even after audio is restored.
As of Friday, I cannot get toggling eARC to resume sound functionality at all. I only get Audio by turning up the TV speakers. **UPDATE** This seems more to be an issue with HDMI-CEC as the Yamaha is no longer automatically switching to AUDIO 1 when a Smart TV App start to send audio via ARC/eARC. I have sound when I manually switch to the Yamaha to AUDIO 1.
Setup and Attempted fixes:
- Yamaha HDMI (1-4) IN (devices PS4, Nintendo, Raspberry Pii and Chromecast Ultra) and HDMI OUT to Q80T HDMI 3 eARC using a high speed HDMI cable
- Unplugged each device and re-tried above steps.
- Q80T and Yamaha have latest updates (Yamaha 1.69 Firmware includes eARC update)
- Factory reset Q80T (twice) and Yamaha receiver
- Tried a different High Speed HDMI cable
- I am trying to get my hands on a Sound Bar to do a simple test to in see if I still get no audio through the ARC/eARC channel - **UPDATE** seems to be a non-issue now.
Currently, I have run a optical cable to restore audio functionality from Smart TV Apps but this is why I'm using ARC/eARC in the first place...I don't want to be running extra cables.
I have called Samsung CS twice and I have been advised that this has been escalated to management, but no new news.
Please help!

OthersHi! I have been spinning my wheels trying to figure out why I lost all eArc functionality. Less than month ago I bought same tv and I got the Samsung q70t soundbar to go with it. With this setup it is supposed to be flawless connection and engages all the features. NOPE!
I’ve been researching and just now today, after waking away from the issues, found this and another thread for the same. Talked to CS 3 times in last 36 hours, no one mentions any of this to me in any calls. Even after I said what if it’s a firmware issue. I was told “if the firmware needed updated, then an update would be released” and all I could do was laugh and write it down.
Looking at the fact that is definitely not a “me” issue and is a “their” issue for sure. But I’m two days away from my return period expiring and I have no idea what I should do. Because apparently we’re going to have this issue until an update or something. Samsung should be doing something to fix this or at least acknowledge it to us and let us know that if they can’t fix it they will stand by their name.

OthersThis really **bleep**. I purchased brand new Samsung 65 inch Q80T from Costco (2020 model) and a brand new Samsung 850A sound bar (2021 model)with Dolby atmos - and for the first day the eARC worked via HDMI 3 with an eARC cable (95$ I might mention) - the All sudden it would NOT CONNECT over HDMI and only connected over WiFi which intermittently disconnection and blips every few minutes. Did I really just spend nearly 3000$ to buy faulty equipment that does not work? The 2021 model - Q80A I was told does not even look as good as the 2020 model so upgrading wouldn’t be an option! Samsung help please
