Hey members, I bought a GS8 about 2 months ago and it's an American model. This means the Samsung Members application doesn't come pre-installed, and apks don't have the community tab.
Anyways I was wondering if there was a way for me to get the community tab in the Members application because I really enjoyed helping the community and interacting with like-minded individuals.

The American Samsung+ community is filled with people having issues with their washing machines hahaha, it's focused on every Samsung product like fridges, home appliances, etc, while this community is mostly mobile. There's no real community there (everyone's nickname is along the lines of: user1A6Q99ML) 😣

I think that it's tied to the CSC. So maybeee you could try to flash Canada CSC. Both S8s are SD so it should be OK. Alternatively you could just flash G950W official Canada firmware. Since people successfully flashed US G950Ux FW on G950W, I don't see why the reverse is not possible.

However don't take my word from it, never tried cross-region flashing.

The US Community on Samsung+? Or do you mean Samsung Members app Canada with your US device?

I can browse through the US Community with Samsung+ but I think that I'd have to use VPN to sign up & login..

I mean getting the full Samsung Members application on my American S8. I think it's tued in with the device model because it's not available in the playstore and when I download the app it gives me a message saying "due to your device some features will not be available"

Flash your phone with a Canadian Firmware like CHMultimedia & Ven0m suggested. I agree there is no reason to be on US firmware when you're using it in Canada, many people does it and why would there be any problem?
You should take solutions members are giving you for your own benefit. Or don't bothers asking for help at all from the members at first place if you don't really want it.

I am very grateful for the responses fellow members have shared, but the solution has the possible side effect of bricking my phone. Sorry i don't have the experience others have of installing firmware using Odin but I'm not going to take any risks here. I'm completely open to the idea of changing the firmware on my phone but only until I'm 100% sure that no problems will arise. CHMultimedia said himself has never changed the firmware region on his devices, and as helpful Ven0m has been he has said multiple times to talk to him if any problems arise which doesn't make me feel better about the process.

This is my phone, not yours. Maybe you have spare devices laying around to tinker with, but I don't. If this doesn't go well I have no backup plan here. My lack of confidence in myself that I won't screw up is in no way disrespecting or ignoring anyone here. Feel free to start tinkering around with your main device
