Google Chrome issues with Dex

Current setup

Dex station EE-MG950
Galaxy Note 10+
Monitor

Dex launches on monitor as expected

Launching and using Chrome when the phone screen times out is problematic.

For example, 
Plug phone into station
Let the phone screen timeout

Launch Chrome in DEX
     Chrome either appears solid white or solid black.
     New tabs cannot be opened

If you then wakeup the phone, it works

If the phone times out again, issue comes back.
It is also observed that the scrolling in Chrome is broken as well if phone screen has timed out

 Samsung support asked that I increase the phone timeout but I do not feel this is a valid solution.
For example, I would then need to decrease the timeout each time I unplug the phone.
Otherwise the battery life would be reduced due to screen being on longer than it needs to be

Are you sure your in Dex mode and not screen casting mode? When in Dex mode you don't have to wake your phone.. I also don't believe chrome works with Dex I use Samsung browser's.

Also you only need USB c to HDMI for Dex to work.

Most definitely in Dex Mode.
In screen mirroring mode there would be no issue as I'm using the device itself.

There is no reason the device screen should need to be on in order to use Chrome properly however it appears to be related to issue.  It's easily reproducible if you would like to try it out. 

As for the USB C to HDMI comment, you'll have to trial and error some of the available USB hubs.
The DEX station itself won't trigger Dex unless it's powered.

Hi Samsung_5Ddr4Xp, this happened after Android10. I have the same problem too in DeX mode. We all need to wait for Samsung issues the fix for chrome. Temp solution, use Samsung Internet browser for now. You might want to install samsung internet extension for import your chrome bookmarks.

I can confirm this behaviour.

On my Samsung Galaxy S9 updated to Android 10 Google Chrome isn't usable, screen stays black, clicking somewhere, opening new tabs, nothing really works.

I figured out that this occurs with the latest Chrome Version 80.0.3987.87. When deinstalling the Chrome Update and so Chrome is on Version 78.0.3904.96 Chrome works fine again.

I temporarily disabled the automatic update of Chrome but this can't be the final solution.

yeah same here, i have the note 9. after the latest update chrome will not open if the phone screen is off.

Beside this issue with Chrome over DEX, I have a simillar issue with WhatsApp calls over Samsung Buds. The calls stops if the screen turns off and it comes back if the screen is on.
