Samsung DeXDeX needs to have a touch overlay built into it so you can assign mouse/KB or gamepad input to on-screen functions. This already exists on a number of different devices, including a couple of apps for third-party controllers, so it's not like Samsung can't do it.
Unfortunately, most good options on the Play Store or apk market either require root or require a third-party controller to be connected. Having this as a native part of OneUI/DeX would be the ideal. It would definitely go a long way toward completing the DeX experience and legitimizing mobile gaming.
Imagine being able to sit down with DeX and play CoD: Mobile with a keyboard and mouse. The experience would be almost indistinguishable from desktop gaming.

Mapping keyboard keys to on-screen taps is a must have for gaming.

Samsung DeXHonestly just don’t use desktop modes for gaming and gamepad overlay apps; it’s just bad combination for any phone including Motorola. I simply mirror now, all I had to do was use a resolution changer app which uses ADB to allow a one time modification of android system settings. Once the one time system modification is set use the resolution changer to match your extended display and your set. The mirroring will now give you full screen and any gamepad mapping apps will also work perfectly without using the alt desktop mode.

Samsung DeXThat's beside not having to muck around with granting low-level permissions to third-party apps through ADB, which should be avoided as much as possible.

Samsung DeXAgreed. This basic function should be available in DeX.
Other phones like red magic or rog already have this since ages but they lack the option to disable "enhance pointer precision" like samsung, which makes it hard to play fps game with a mouse.
I just swapped to s25 ultra from red magic 7s pro because I heard samsung has option to disable that, which they really do. But then I learned it hard way that samsung Dex doesn't have key mapping for games!!! Now I'm stuck with screen casting + GG mouse pro, a 3rd party software for key mapping so I'm playing with risk of getting banned from the game.
They can easily implement that if they ever want to.
