Hello, I find the samsung health app really useful, BUT... It is inadequate to track my food intake because most of the local cuisine cannot be found. This is where myfitnesspal really shines. However, I would prefer to track my food with samsung health as well. Manually inputting is really annoying. Isn't there a way to use the sync function between samsung health and MFP for the food?

Hi Balev,

I would recommend following the steps on this link to sync MFP to Samsung Health
https://thejournier.com/2018/07/05/syncing-the-gear-sport-to-myfitnesspal-tips-more/#:~:text=Open%20....

if it still isn't syncing, simply try to unlink the accounts, redownload MFP and try to connect them again.

I have tried that numerous times. Force stopped both apps, cleared all data and cache, re-installed both, linked both again, fixed MFP bug by unlinking and relinking through the MFP website, which fixed the problem where MFP doesn't get the step count from samsung health, gave all permissions to MFP from samsung health... no result. And I have done this more than once, not sure what is broken.

Hmm, that seems odd.

The support section within MFP states this (copied from their website)

  • First, you need to try to sync the app to make sure you data has been backed up. Open the app and login. Then at the bottom of the menu on the left, tap the "Sync" option. If the app reports it has not synced recently, tap the Sync item to force a sync. Make sure that your phone is connected to the internet when you are trying to sync. If you are not able to get the app to completely sync, then unfortunately, when you uninstall the app you will lose any changes that you have not synced.

  • Next, remove the app by closing the app, then going to Settings, then Applications, then Manage Applications. Find the MyFitnessPal app and tap on it, then tap the Uninstall button.

  • Once the app has been uninstalled, open Google Play (formerly the Android Market) and search for "myfitnesspal", then reinstall the app.

  • Finally, once the app has been reinstalled, open the app and login using the same username and login you had been using previously. All of the data for your account will be synced from our website back to your phone.

Once completed, go into MyFitnessPal and find Apps & Devices under the Menu Bar. Search for Samsung Health and then tap Connect. You should see a pop up for permissions regarding the Samsung Health integration.

In order for it to work properly, turn the integration On and then allow all permissions. Please note you will need to scroll down on this pop up to see all of the permissions. Finally, Tap Done to finish the set up.

After more digging, it is a known bug within the actual app, nothing to do from your end; I think the best thing is to wait until they send out an update for bugfixes. Sorry about the inconvenience.

Hi Balev, In Samsung Health Open settings, Data Permissions, MyFitnessPal (Must be installed), toggle on all switches for READ AND WRITE.
In MyFitnessPal Open settings, My Apps&Devices, Select Samsung Health, Select Connect.

After performing these steps, does food intake will sync without any issues and it doesn't sync the step count?

@keagan I've done that. It syncs my steps and exercise fine, it does not sync the food intake from mfp to samsung health.

Hi Balev, Thanks for the response. Please report the issue to the MyFitnessPal app developer and get back to us with the information they provide you.
