Just installed Android 16 with One UI 8 on Galaxy S24 Ultra. Secure Folder no longer auto locks on exit. Why remove this feature?

One has to manually lock and exit, or wait x number of minutes, or lock the screen. I don't want to lock the phone to lock the secure folder. Too many unnecessary manual steps to protect sensitive data. It boggles the mind why you would remove auto lock on exit.

Reinstate lock on exit

I doubt it very much. Been giving it some thought and still wonder why Samsung would do this. Some entity data mining the secure folder?

It's like not allowing one to cast a Samsung TV to a phone or tablet. They are removing features. I used this feature all the time especially when cooking and looking at soccer. I guess it's about money like every other company out there.

No, they removed casting from the TV to phone/tablet. Phone/tablet to TV still works. Be still your beating heart lol.

It's 2026 and there is still no clarification from their side on whether if they are going to bring this feature back in the next update or not. This is such a huge disappointment, as I just bought my new galaxy device. This is exactly why I hesitate to update my software everytime, because it just ends up with them removing a perfectly good feature for no apparent reason.

It's the arbitrary things that they do and the blatant indifference that annoys me. I sometimes wonder if it's deliberately left open at the behest of some government so that contents of the secure folder can be data mined.

Recently they updated 2 of my TVs and defaulted power on to Samsung TV which takes forever to load and I now have to wait before doing what I want. No option to disable or remove Samsung TV. Last I checked I paid for the TV and should have the ability to remove everything except for the core software needed for it to work. Here I blame governments for not forcing manufacturers like Samsung to make their products more user friendly and flexible. I guess political donations speak louder than us.
