Is there a way to go back to the old App selector, instead of the apps hiding behind the other apps.

What do you mean by apos hiding behind the other apps? Can you screenshot and show here?

Do yes see how on the left it is behind the app but on the right it is side by side. I want it to be side by side on both sides.
