I'm following up on a previous post here.  I did a factory reset on both my Note 9 and my S6 Lite. Both devices can pair and connect to my bluetooth speaker and the Note connects to my car, so it sppears bluetooth works on both devices.

The Note and the S6 pair just fine but won't actually connect to each other. There must be a settingor something that prevents this from happening but I don't know what to look for.

Try using the pull down menu at top of the screen on both devices and pick nearby share  and forget about bluetooth pairing and see if it will share your document with other device

I am not sure what do you mean by not connect each other. As I know under Settings→ Advanced features
There is a "Call & text on other device" that you need to enable on your Note in order to work with your tablet.

If not what I thought, please describe more detail. Thanks!

tallman, I didn't know about the setting you point out. I set that on both devices and scanned again. Available devices show my neighbours speakers and stuff but not my S6 on the Note nor the Note on the S6.

What kind of features you need? I wonder why you need to pair your Note to S6 Tablet.

i want to use nearby share to copy a document from one to the other. Ican use email of course but share is faster . . . when it works.

Seems like you got it. Either nearby sharing or quick share will work for file transfer.

It finally worked. The devices don't show as connected but the files get shared which is what I wanted. I don't know why it took several tries over 2 days but it's working now.
