Hello,

I got Samsung Galaxy Tab S6 Lite tablet with the latest Whatsapp app version.

If I try to write in Whatsapp chat, it shows the Samsung virtual keyboard where if I press this button (it's like an arrow that goes down and to the left, I believe it's the same as the the enter key in pc):

https://cdn4.iconfinder.com/data/icons/arrows-352/512/enter-return-back-keyboard--key-send-arrow-512...

Rather than making a new line, it just sends the message (it's doing exactly what the paper airplane button is doing in Whatsapp which it also sends the message).

Note: If I use my Galaxy S9 phone and try to use the exact same button (arrow down and to the left), it does the new line as expected so it seems like an issue with the tablet only. It also works if I use my tablet and the same arrow button in Skype app, it then does a new line as expected so it seems to be limited to samsung s6 lite tablet/android/whatsapp app combo (so one of the 3 is at fault here for this bug, samsung, android or whatsapp).

The fact that it did work when we did this with the support rep after clearing the cache for the app tells me that something glitches it at some point and causes it to stop working. But I tried to clear the cache again after the issue returned but it didn’t solve the problem so I’m not sure what’s going on.

Note 2: Under WhatsApp > tap 3-dot menu (top right corner) > Settings > Chats, I don't see a setting such as "Enter is send" I checked both the galaxy tablet and my iphone and didn’t see it.

I tried to call Samsung support, they did some troubleshooting with me, we did cache clearing for Whatsapp app, it seem like it resolved the problem after that, but after few minutes the issue came back again. I'm planning to call their support again, but wanted to see if anyone encountered this issue too and might know any alternative solutions including adding some new custom button to the Samsung keyboard that would allow to do a proper new line or some other possible solutions.

Thank you.

You could try a different keyboard and see if it might solve your issue

What do you mean by a different keyboard?

I found a workaround resolution: If the samsung keyboard is fixed then it’s working as expected. If it’s floating then it doesn’t work. It was sent to samsung engineers by samsung support for a further review why it doesn’t work.

Trying  a different keyboard refers to installing a different keyboard on your device such as Gboard, Swiftkey, or others to see if it corrects the problem but sounds like you found a way around the problem
