Hi folks,

I was given my Samsung Watch4 about a year and a half ago. I frequently use it to track exercises - walking being the most common.

It was my practice with my previous watch, a Fitbit Versa, to check the watch visually to see how much distance I had gone during the walk. I could have sworn the Galaxy Watch4 also gave me that information the first few times I used it but I must be mistaken.

Can anyone tell me how to change the display so that the distance travelled shows up while in "Walking" mode? I see it when I use "Running" mode but since I very seldom run, it's not an actual record of the kind of exercise I do.

That feature is very helpful when I have a distance target/goal.

Thanks for your help.

Hi, please can you try the troubleshooting steps below to see if this helps.

1. Open S Health on the watch, swipe up or down and open the Steps tracker. Swipe up or down and select Settings > Step Target > swipe up or down to select a target > Done.

2. Open S Health > Settings > Workout Detection > Activities to Detect, as this will automatically detect distance travelled and calories burnt.

Thank you.

Thanks for your reply, Helen a.
I already had several activities, including running and walking, checked. I have changed them both to "record location on". I will get back to you... Thanks again.

Oh, I just tried it out - the distance comes up for "running" but not "walking".
