This phone frequently shows the wifi speed at 72 Mbps. Forget the network and rejoin and it will be anywhere from 150 to 400 Mbps. An hour later it's back to the exact same speed of 72 and I have to repeat the forget routine.

How can I save this problem?

Hi Newfguy,

Please try to Reset the Network Settings and check. Follow the below steps:
Go to Settings>> General Management>>Reset>>Reset Network Settings>>Reset settings.
This will reset all network settings, including those for Wi-Fi, Mobile Data, Bluetooth.

Sounds like your wireless network stays on 2.4GHz. I bet you are using 1 SSID with 2.4GHz and 5GHz. If you want to connect in high speed 150 and up, you need to connect to 5GHz only.

You need to seperate wireless frequency in 2.4GHz and 5GHz, then connect to 5GHz only. That means 1 SSID for 2.4GHz and 1 SSID for 5GHz.

Here your decision:
2.4GHz - speed is slow, but coverage area is wide. You can still access internet or your network when you far away from your router.

5GHz - speed is fast, but coverage area is small. You will get high speed only if you close to your router.

Yes, there is one SSID for both 2.4 and 5! I don't recall deciding to do that. I believe the TPlink Deco mesh router did it as a default when I installed it. Thanks for giving me a path to investigate!
