I just bought a Galaxy A5 (2017). I really wanted the FM radio (non-data using) but it doesn't seem to be working. I live in Ontario, Canada. Nextradio app says its not supported. Any suggestions of how to enable it? :(
That's a question to ask to your carrier. They're the ones that restrict anything that can generate them less money like free news and weather info, or free music instead of streaming over your data and subsequently risking overcharge fees. They are the ones that remove the Mobile Data Quick Settings tile and Mobile Hotspot tile for instance. Forget it and run over your data by accident = KaChing.
It's also not even available in super expensive flagship Samsung phones so imagine our frustration. Every carriers remove the fm radio feature on latest phones now a days.
Explain yourself properly instead of commenting like on YouTube comment section. I'll explain mine, S8/S8+/S9/S9+ all the flagships doesn't have any radio on any carrier. Only some Note 8 works with Nextradio with some carrier , which is very minor so doesn't count. It's FACT.
All A5 (2017) have a radio chip preinstall by Samsung. The problem is that in some countries, these are disabled. The only model that has one activated is the european version which is the SM-A520F
Many sellers are selling the SM-A520F in the US. What is the model # for the a5 normally in the US? I almost purchased the SM-A520F from a US seller but he was not sure if the FM tuner was disabled or not.
