Hello, I updated my phone software and my call recording app stopped working.

Always clear cache partition after an update to resolve most if not all issues.

If problems still persist, back up your device and do a factory reset. NOTE: This will wipe everything off the device.

No it's not. Law says it's legal if one of the persons that participate to the call (the caller or the receiver) is aware of the recording. If you record your own calls, it's 100% legal, be it calls you made or received.

But you also have to tell the other person that you are recording the call.

No you don't. Canada has the "one party notification". This means as long as one person in the party consents there is no need to inform the other party. Because the person recording the call is giving consent, there is no need to inform the other party. This is legal in Canada.

Totally legal. As a private citizen it's allowed so long as you have your own consent to record it.

Businesses on the other hand usually have to follow provincial laws which usually have a provision on recording conversations, whereas the other party needs to be informed that the conversation is being recorded.  I believe that changes province to province.
