I am using Samsung music.  If I close the app without stopping the music, first, the app closes but the music does not stop.  Current apps shows none running.
Perhaps related, if I say "Hey Google stop music", when a song is playing, the music stops but then, restarts.
This happens with other music apps, as well.

Hi, if your music continues playing even after closing the app, you can try returning to your music app and stopping the music manually or closing the app. If your music continues playing, you can force the app to close.

Open your Settings app >> Tap Apps >> Tap on the Samsung music app and any other music app you wish to close >> Tap Force stop.

Appreciate the advice but it should not be necessary.

Hi, just to confirm is your issue is resolved after performing the above steps?

I use Spotify subscription. I have Spotify running as one of my "Pinned Apps" in Recents, so it never actually closes.

I just control the music playback from the Lockscreen, Notification or the app itself.

You can try a couple of things with Samsung Music...

Settings > Apps Search for Samsung Music & Clear the cache (NOTE if you Clear the Data as well, you'll have to redownload any of your music.)

Also in Settings > Apps > Samsung Music & scroll down to "Battery" & Select Not Optimized.

Reboot and test.

There may be other music players that can be configured to stop playing music when the app is closed.
