not getting message notifications

HELP! I am not getting my text messages.  I verified my notifications, sound, etc. Everything is ok there but I am still not being notified.  I shut down the phone, cleaned cache, same problem.  Any advice?

the strange thing is, i am getting notifications for emails, etc, but not messages.

-settings/ notifications
-Also in the messaging app hit the 3 dots up top and check those settings 🤷

message are sms and provided by the carrier. email can be retrieved over wi-fi.

check and see if your data is turned off. sometimes it is something simple like that. less you are haveing mms setting issue's or corrupted sim card type stuff. i have had alot of sms issue's with my carrier in the past. eneded up the set up the protocols incorrectly.

thank you for trying. I noticed next to every text there's a little bell/alarm with a strike through, as if it's on mute. when I check individually, nothing is muted so it's really frustrating!
