My Sansung Galaxy A12 is brand new and I bought it a few weeks ago. The problem is that the phone randomly restarts while I'm in the middle of using it. I checked my setting and the auto-restart option is turned off, so it's nothing having to do with the settings. How do I prevent this from happening again?

You can try to clear your cache partition in recovery and if it still happens, i would boot in safe mode. If it doesn't restart in safe mode, it's probably one of your apps thats causing this. Also make sure all your apps are updated.

I have been having this problem ever since the last update. I will be in the middle of typing something and it either stalls or shuts down and I lose everything.

I had this issue on a previous device....I think it was my S10. It turned out to be defective device. Luckily it was within the 15 day mark so all it took was a quick exchange at my mobile carrier. If you device is brand new, this should not be happening. I would take it back where you got it from and request an exchange.

Hi, Using Safe mode disables all downloaded apps and loads only the original software that came with your phone, allowing you to determine if the issue is caused by an app or with the phone.

If the issues do not appear while in Safe mode, the problem is caused by a downloaded app, and it should be uninstalled.

First, open the Power menu:

  • On devices with a regular Power key, press and hold the Power key until the Power menu is displayed.
  • On devices without a dedicated power button, swipe down with two fingers from the top of the screen to open Quick settings. Tap the Power icon at the top of the screen.

Touch and hold Power off until the Safe mode icon is displayed. Tap Safe mode to start your device in Safe mode. If you've entered Safe mode successfully, you'll see Safe mode displayed at the bottom of the screen.

Use the phone normally to see if the issue has been resolved. If the phone is operating normally, a recently installed app was most likely causing the issue.

  • If the issue is gone in Safe mode: One of your recently downloaded apps was likely the cause of the problem.

One by one, uninstall any apps you downloaded just before your phone began having the issue.

After uninstalling each app, restart the phone and check if it is functioning normally.

  • If the issue still exists: Downloaded apps may not be the cause of the problem. You may need to reset the phone to the factory setting.
