I would like the option to self-identify incoming private number calls just for my own purposes. I refuse to answer such calls for my protection, but if I could add a name to those that I know and have frequent valid conversations with it would help to identify them. This wouldn't violate the protection of their privacy in any way. Doctors are prime examples of such numbers and I don't want to refuse their calls when they come in. Why is this not an option on my Samsung phone?

To get it to show private number, they've either asked their mobility carrier to show that as their call display or turned it on in their settings. There is a new option on Galaxy phones called Bixby Text Call if you want to screen incoming calls before answering. I've used it if its a number I don't recognize. If it's a robo call or a scam call, they usually hang up as soon as they hear Bixby talk, lol!

The CRTC controls the regulations regarding Private Numbers.

Unless you are Law Enforcement, or other such government agency, it is unlikely that you would be able to see the number of incoming Private numbers.

If you were to set your device's Dialer Settings to "Private", you would likely not be happy, if your choice could be undone by the number you were calling.

*69 might reveal the actual number of the incoming calls (After the fact).
