We have rounded edge since a while.
I do think it was a challenge in technology speaking at that time.
But, today I would prefer a flat screen.
I'm I alone?!

Welcome to the Samsung Members Community where we assist each other with any suggestions or troubleshooting issues with our mobile devices. I own the S9 and the sides of the screen are curved. Majority of smartphones nowadays are being manufactured with rounded or curved screens to make the phone look stylish and more functional. There are smartphones available with a flat screen. Basically it's the decision of the consumer whether or not they want to purchase a smartphone with a flat or rounded edge screen. Since technology is always changing, I don't think that rounded edge or flat screen smartphones will be disappearing anytime soon.

I've been using curved screens for a while and would gladly go back to a flat screen flagship device. Aside for looks, it is more of a pain than anything else ( screen protectors, accidental touches when not using a case, using the Spen on curved screens etc ..)

well if the rumors are true. the S21 and s21+ will have flat screens. the S21 ultra will have a curved screen. the "regular" S21's will have crappy specs, I.E 1080P screen and no mirco SD card slot and the S21 with a plastic back to name a few. so samsung is really taking the choices away from the users of what device best fits their needs. such as physical size and with the features they want. I really don't think the S21 series will be well received by samsung fans, because if these rumors are true I'm likely going to pass on the S21's.

That is exactly why I said flat screen FLAGSHIP. If the 21 Ultra had a flat screen, it most probably would have been my next device.

There is only one reason Samsung keeps the rounded edges, and that's because sales are increased due to broken screens. I have never broken a screen of any smart phone I have ever owned since smart phones existed, until I broke the screen on my rounded edge S8+. I upgraded to the S21Ultra, and within a few months I had broken the screen on that too. I usually use the biggest, most protective cases, but they do nothing for rounded edge phones. No phone case can protect rounded edge screens from dropping it on its edge. This is the final straw for me and Samsung. Flat screen Flagships need to come back, or my next phone won't be a Samsung.
