Hi, I bought the Note8 from Samsung.ca and got it on the 4th of January. I watched a movie on it for the first time last night on my bed and noticed light visible from what's playing on the screen between the screen and the metal frame on the left side. Is this normal or should I call Samsung for a replacement or repair?

@sfeedy, It sounds like the screen has separated from the metal frame. I would suggest giving Samsung a call to find out what they recommend in regards to a replacement or repair.

There you go, I tried my best to take these pictures using my Tab. Had to take it in the dark so the light is visible.. During daytime, you don't see it. That's why it took me a while to find this. I don't generally use my phone in the dark or on my bed.9d583973-9732-414c-853e-3fe1d6175467.jpg

yes i see it. thx for the pic. it kind of resemble the light leak from when you put a glass screen protector and it's not even.

definitely, if you just got it. contact the manager in charge not the service agent or rep and ask nicely for a swap. i believe you are in the remorse period for refund anyways and you can remind them of that should they try to repair your unit.

heat may have been the source of the screen separating since is sealed with adhesive.

keep us posted.

I see. Thank you. I highly doubt it's the heat. I'm from Canada. Purolator brought the phone frozen (because of the weather) and the phone never heated up with me yet. I'm starting to believe Samsung Quality control is weak. I'll try to contact them tomorrow and update you guys.

before it reached you, the phone was shipped from manufacture facility. somewhere in between, heat may have weakened the adhesive during transportation. just a guess. if you YouTube note 8 disassembly you will see how hard it is to remove unless there is plenty of heat. either way or should've never happened. to be fare, I've seen and heard this happen with Apple as well. there will always be a few that get missed and that's with anything that is mass manufactured.

if there is a gap, see off you can stick a playing card or business in. if it slide in a little, Then your unit missed the adhesive bench altogether.

definitely get a replacement if you can see light leaking out from the gap, because that most likely means it's no longer iP68.

I've noticed on my S7 and old S5 that there is a gap between the frame and the glass that's less than millimeter but I've never seen light leaking out.

Hey @sfeedy! As others mentioned, you will definitely should contact your local Samsung Service Center (http://www.samsung.com/ca/support/servicelocation/) for these problems. Thanks!
