I am trying to connect to a Windows IIS FTP server and I get the following error

Unknown Error:vfs.provider/list-children.error

When I try create a folder or move a file from my phone to  the FTP location I get the following error

Unknown Error:vfs.provider/get-type.error

The password and user name are correct because when I put in the wrong password, it won't connect at all

Hi Chris_G, I never tried on FTP connection since I don't have FTP server.

Can you try the following?

Use another computer, download an FTP client, like Filezilla FTP client. Try connect to your FTP server. Try moving files or create folder. Will you get any errors at all?

I installed FileZilla and it connects but generated a SSL error that it allowed me to bypass.  However, it provided the initial directory list with no issues and allowed me create a directory with no issues.

I found another client in the Google Play store and  it works fine.  Samsung has an issue they need to resolve.

Samsung My File app does not support SSL or SFTP protocol. Just the basic FTP. Therefore, My File app doesn't work in your scenario. But glad you find another app that works for you.

I'm having this issue as well, it WAS working with no issues.   Seems like it just started.  My FTP is on a Linksys router with a drive connected via USB.

I've deleted and recreated the entry in the Network storage connection, but has the same issue, rebooted router, all that fun stuff.   My computer and my phone with a FTP client works fine.

Just noticed there's now an Active/Passive option...  changed it to Passive and it's now working.  You might try that..
