I have had the Note 4, 5, 8, 9 and now 10+. I have never encountered this problem ...
I have everything set correctly, however, since receiving the device 2 days ago I do not get a Notification Tone for text messages. I was disappointed that "Knock" was no longer available BUT not getting any Notification Tone is incredibly frustrating.
Any suggestions that I may not have tried would be graciously appreciated.
Check to see what Notification sound you have selected for Texts - Silent is an option & if you in ad selected that you won't receive any Notification - As for the "knock" Notification sound - Check out Zedge on the Play Store - I've been using it for years & there's a very good selection of Notification & Ringtones - Including "Knocks" 🐧
Also check that you don't have the Volume for Notifications turned off..
Hi....I have Messages set to Default sound now. I have everything set properly but I still don't get a Notification tone. I receive the Pop-Up preview but no sound. Since I have a visual impairment the tones are very important to me. I do get the tone for emails and Messenger but not for text messages ..I'm getting frustrated🤪🤪

Did you check Messages Notification Settings? See if New Messages is set to "sound and pop-up"? Maybe delete the app cache and see if that might resolve it.
Hi, Thank you for your suggestions. I have Message Notification Settings to "Sound and Pop Up" and I have cleared the cache. Still absolutely no Message notification tone. I don't know what else to do. Thank you
