I've recently started getting a faded green screen with horizontal stripes. It was happening occasionally, usually the screen was perfect. I just figured out how to replicate:

Turns screen off using power button. Turn it back on within a few seconds (using any method, power button, fingerprint, etc): screen is green

Turn screen off using power button. Wait more than 5 seconds. Turn it on: screen is fine

Has anyone experienced this? It happens in Safe Mode. I've tried the other usual fixes, except doing a full factory reset.

Hi, please try backup and reset and check for the updates, reset your device after a backup of the data. Otherwise, it will erase all the data. Get back to us with the results.

Here are the steps to backup your data:

Backup from Samsung account--Apps > Settings > Cloud > Backup > Select the data > Back up now.

Backup from Google account-Apps > Settings > Backup and reset.

Here are the steps for factory reset, settings>>General management>>Reset>>Factory data reset>>Scroll down to the bottom and tap on Reset>> Delete All.

The issue is still there. But now I have to wait 30 seconds or longer before unlocking the screen, otherwise it will be murky (green).

My device is *worse* now after following the advice.

EDIT: turning on Always On Display fixed it ... as long as I only unlock the screen when the always on display is showing.

I got this issue as well after latest update from Samsung. Not sure why but please samsung fix this issue. I love my note 9 and don't want to get the new one. Don't make your die hard fan switch to other brands.
