My wife and I have been having this issue reoccur where the Over the Horizon ringtone will play at random. I've tried various things with our phones, but nothing has worked thus far. In a way, I regret updating to One UI 4 cause this ringtone issue is crippling. The only way I've been able to stop it is by powering off the phones, starting them in the boot menu, clearing the cache, then restarting the phones.

I also noticed a significant reduction in performance of my wife's S20 FE. Glitching, screen lag, and apps freezing have been a constant problem for her.

If I find a solution, I'll post a comment here. Anyone else experiencing this issue?

I love Samsung's products, I've used them for years, but this UI launch was awful. (That's just my opinion. I'm sure there are many who have had good experiences. 🙂)

My wife's phone is the S20 FE.
My phone is the Note 20 Ultra

You aren't changing the Volume of the Ringer yourself?

I mean that if you aren't pressing the Volume down button deliberately, it's possible if the phone is in your pocket.. But that's what the Notification from Nice Catch Ringer mode would suggest.

Have you heard the "over the horizon" ringtone since you Toggled off Android System Notifications though?

Yes, the ringtone went off 3 more times. I do toggle the volume after the ringer starts playing, but that doesn't give me the yellow marked notifications. I think I should just factory reset my phone at this point. Nothing is working.

That would seem to be the likely solution.

Trying not to sound like a parrot, I always Factory Reset after any Android version update, and I've never, ever had any issues.

Remember to backup your device with Smart Switch first.

But you may was to test your phone after you Factory Reset, but BEFORE you Restore with Smart Switch. You don't want to restore a Setting / App that may be responsible for the annoying notifications.

I factory reset my phone yesterday like you said and today the same issue happened again.

Did you try using your phone without restoring your Backup first?

If you're still getting random notifications after you Factory Reset, AND you didn't restore your backup, the only things that left are a hardware issue (which would be really odd), or some app, but you should see which app in Settings > Notifications..

The issue hasn't reoccurred since Samsung One UI Home was updated via the Galaxy Store a few days ago! Yay!
