Android 14 update duplicated all Microsoft related calendars.

After the One UI 6.0, my Samsung calendar app shows 21 duplicate "Canada Holidays Calendars" under my Hotmail account. My device is a Galaxy S23 Ultra.

Under my secondary Outlook email, there are 7 calendars called "Calendar Calendar" and 8 additional "Canada Holidays Calendars".

Then lastly, under my work email which is an Exchange 365 account, I have 13 "Canada Holidays Calendars".

I've logged into Outlook on my desktop and went to Calendars to see if they were showing up there (to delete them) and they are not there. Which means they are likely only showing up on the phone itself. I've also logged into my Google account on my PC and no duplicates are shown there either.

Any suggestions on how to get rid of these? Deleting the calendar cache and data does nothing. And to make it worse, more duplicates seem to get added month after month.

UPDATE #1:
More than a year after creating this post, this issue still exists. At the time of writing this, I had 21 "Canada Holiday Calendars". I now counted 41.

Despite numerous phone updates the problem is unresolved. I'm on the fence about upgrading to the S25 Ultra as part of my hopes that moving to a new device will eliminate this problem. The other part of me feels like "Why would I want to get another Samsung phone that may have the same unresolved problem again"?

The issue isn't on Microsoft's side. The problem is somewhere on Samsung's.

Update #2:
After more than a year of no solution or resolution I begrudgingly upgraded to the S25 Ultra. As suspected, the issue no longer exists. Clearly it was a bug introduced from a major update. Not sure if a hard reset would have resolved it, but happy to no longer be dealing with it.

Update #3:
3 weeks into owning the S25 Ultra I've noticed my calendars are beginning to duplicate AGAIN. So it's clearly not a software bug from a phone update. Because it's already occurring on a new phone that I just bought 3 - 4 weeks ago. This is pathetic.. I reached out to Samsung tech support about this and they remotely connected to my phone. They were unable to fix the problem as well.

This is their advice:
Please raise an error report through Samsung Members application so that our developers team will review the case and get back with an update via email.
1. Long press Samsung Members icon on Apps screen and Tap Error reports.
2. Tap OK on agreement popup for sending system log data.
3. Select Symptom category.
4. Describe problem in detail and SEND.

Same problem on my A54 and Tab A9+ with Calendar Calendar showing up multiple times and the count of them increasing over time. The only fix that I have found, and it is brute force is to go into the Samsung mail app and remove your account and then re-add it. Once you do, your duplicate calendars will be gone (for now). I just did this on my Tab A9+ and added my hotmail account and then renamed it in the Samsung Mail app with the name "Roger's Hotmail". Now in the Samsung Calendar app, I have a calendar showing up named "Roger's Hotmail Calendar". I don't remember that being there before. It did give me a Calendar Calendar but there are no entries using that calendar. All of the calendar items from my hotmail calendar came into the new "Roger's Hotmail Calendar". I also cleared the check mark on Calendar Calendar so it won't get used in the Samsung Calendar app.

Just tried the same process on my A54 and it seems to have worked on both devices. I now have "Roger's Hotmail Calendar" and one Calendar Calendar on the phone and all of my calendar items are showing up in Roger's Hotmail. Fingers crossed that this is a permanent solution and the multiple Calendar Calendars don't keep showing up.

And in less than 24 hours, Samsung Calendar app trashed the work that I did yesterday. the Roger's Hotmail Calendar is gone from the list and now I'm already up to two instances of Calendar Calendar. If anyone from Samsung monitors this community, FIX YOUR *** SOFTWARE!!!!!

I've given up on this also. I have tried, different apps. ( not just samsung calandar ) and the issue has followed me from my s22 to s24. Even though the s24 was set up from scratch, not restored from s22.

At this stage I'm just hoping OneUI 7 fixes the issue.

One thing I do use is Google to Outlook sync on my pc to get one of my personal calendars to show up on my work pc. Deleting it does not seem to fix the problem , but just looking for a common denominator , as this must not be happening on everyones phone??? Or has everyone else just moved to Outlook app🤦

Same problem!  I literally had HUNDREDS of calendar entries and the problem is, I need to scroll through ALL of them just to find the right one to use.  I just upgraded my phone to the S25 Ultra and thought "oh, this will fix the problem", but NO, it's starting again, years after my last phone was already having this bug.  This is making using the Samsung calendar app almost impossible.  It's too bad too because Samsung has the best UI for these apps.

Come on Samsung, get your act together and read these comments about this issue and fix it already!

I'm having the same issue and it seems like many people are. I love Samsung and have been using them for years and this is the first time I've had an issue thats gone unresolved. Disappointing and I hope it's fixed soon! Need to do better Samsung if you want to keep your reputation in tact

I've been experiencing the same issue for a while now, and I can tell you it has nothing to do with the Samsung Calendar app. It's a typical half-baked Microsoft service bug, likely an attempt by them to push users over to their data-harvesting Outlook mobile app.

As reported by others on the following Reddit thread, it's happening with multiple other Calendar apps.

Android 14 update duplicated all my calendars. : r/samsung

The only thing in common; it's happening with their Microsoft account calendars. So, it's definitely an issue created server-side by microsoft. A temporary solution you can do on ANY device is to do as follows:

  • NOTE that this will delete all your synced Calendars - on-device Calendars like Birthdays from Contacts, Tasks from Reminders app, etc. won't be affected - including the custom colours you've chosen for them. So, if you have many custom calendar colours and you want to manually restore them later, it would be a good idea to take a long screenshot of them at Calendar settings > Manage calendar colours.
  1. Navigate to Settings > Apps
  2. Tap the Overflow menu and select "Show system apps"
  3. Now search for "Calendar storage" and tap on it
  4. Open the "Storage" properties and select "Clear data"

Once that's done, with Auto Sync enabled, your calendars will be redownloaded to your device, without duplication. Again, it's a temporary solution. The real fix needs to come from microsoft, who's likely doing this intentionally, in an attempt to push people to their new data-harvesting Outlook.
