I am using a gmail calendar on my computer and samsung tablet. Calendars sync. On my S8 phone, I cant get an old calendar to delete and the new calendars to add.
I tried refresh, nothing, validated I am using current calendar app..
Are you using the same version Google Calendar on all your devices, as it wasn't clear when you said, "I can't get an old calendar to delete & the new calendar to add"?
And when you say "Gmail Calendar", you mean the Google Calendar?
If I understand your question, I think that it's best if you have the same version of Google Calendar on all 3 devices. They should be backwards compatible, but hey we're talking about Google... so
I noticed the samsung calendar on my S8 is v10.x says current on play store. On my tablet says v12.x and is also current. Yes I mean google calendar.. on tablet and phone I used the samsung calendar app. Fed from my google calendar. Gmail account.

I don't use Samsung's calendar at all, but I don't have any issues with my Google calendar syncing across multiple devices & entries from my Gmail account work as well.
I don't know if Samsung's calendar can sync with Google's, I mean I think that it should, but as I don't use Samsung's I can't say for sure.
Thx. I use on my tablet tab s6lite and s8 phone I use the green calendar app called CALENDAR. I put all my calendar entries on my google account. On my pc and tablet all my entries are there including a url link to a sports team calendar. All is good. On my s8 phone I only have my google calendar entries, not any other calendars I added. The app that on my phone is the samsung calendar. Would screen shots help?
Resolved. I went to accounts and opened the google account. It was not synchronized.. all good now Thanks for the help.. pointed me in the direction to find.
