Always on display should get an upgrade when we get Nougat, but I don't think it'll go that far. I brought this up as a support question when I had my Note 7. The blue light filter was very well implemented (in my opinion, at least), but it seemed glaringly obvious that it and always on display were add-ons, and not considered proper "features". Blue light filter decreases the blue light on your phone at night, but the night clock part of always on display is... bluish grey! Options to do colours would fix that up likety-split, but the reply (hmm, maybe I'll pass that on...) and subsequent "solved" status indicate a pretty low priority for changes to always on display. I'm looking forward to support for third party notifications, like we had on Note 7, but I'm not overly optimistic about colors for always on display. I'd love to be wrong.
