The former A10e model gave user the option to delete an entire thread of texts OR to make selections within the thread by tapping a check mark beside it leaving the contact person in tact.

The Galaxy S22 however only allows the entire thread to be deleted, which deleted the contact person as well as the specific notification sounds set up for each contact.
Is there something I'm not seeing to prevent this?

You could try booting into recovery mode and wipe the cache there and see if that helps enable the setting

I can provide instructions if you don't know how to do it

The feature was NEVER there. Within the first week of using the phone I went to delete messages out of a thread and the Select All circle was not there when I did a long hold within the thread. Ive always known to get that feature to come up, along with all the circles beside each message within the chat by doing a single long long hold

It's just not there, never has been
I found it unusual

My only solution I have left is to back up your device with smart switch and reset your device which "Should" enable the setting

After reset check if the setting is there before reinstalling your data with smart switch

Was always hoping in the past year that the updates would find the glitch and correct it
