I am not used to it and I don't want to start a panic movement but I have to know: did you also get a faulty S24 Ultra regarding the camera zoom defect?

This issue came to my mind reading a comment made om PhoneArena which claims that when you switch the lens from X3 to X5 on the new camera you definitely have a shift issue while zooming, and even from 1X to 5x.

I guess if I claim a return Samsung will accept it since I didn't complete my 14 days, right?

Thanks for your advice!

@BashJr It's not easy to explain but when you try to zoom on a precise part of an object, like a mug, you can clearly see that the new zoom from 1x to 5x has an issue like a glitch. When you move from 5x to 10x you don't have this issue. It's disturbing since it prevents from keeping an object aligned while shooting a picture.

You don't need any reason for why you want to return a device.

https://crtc.gc.ca/eng/phone/mobile/code.htm

Rogers gives you 30 days to return a device.

Appreciated @RedDogRabbit but Samsung claims it's 15 days for most products bought on their website so I'm kind of confused https://www.samsung.com/ca/shop-faq/returns-and-cancellations/what-is-the-returns-period/

I think that Samsung is going with the minimum allowed by the CRTC, and Rogers is just offering the 30 days, because they are "nice" 😂

The CRTC also mentions that "Trial period
You can return your cellphone within 15 days, without penalty, if you are unhappy with your service. Use up to half of your allowed monthly usage during the trial period" and 30 for people with disabilities.

It is not a faulty camera. It's normal. When you are switching between focal lengths, different lenses are being used and that's why you see the shift. It is changing the camera used.

Sadly, samsung has not perfected their software to make that transition smoother.

Other brands have done it. Especially iphones. That's why they get so much praise for their cameras.

Samsung needs to perfect their software.

It's changing lens, so it auto focus again. No issue. Other phones do that

Thanks S24UCanada and SELF-MADE, this is what I also thought at first sight but I do have an S23U and if the auto focus shakes to find its focus, it maintains the subject. In my case, the subject is litteraly out of focus, which is a claim Samsung (India at least) recognized. They are many testimonials on Twitter/X https://www.phonearena.com/news/Some-Galaxy-S24-Ultra-units-have-faulty-cameras-and-thats-not-even-t... and also https://twitter.com/smasithick/status/1752733526586491319.

I will definitely change my S24U this is unfortunately not normal.
