My wife has a Samsung Galaxy S25 with One UI 8.0, and she set up an animation where hearts fall when she receives notifications, she also setup edge lighting around the screen border. She decided she didn't want it. we want to actually disable the Edge Lighting effect—the border glow around the screen. We tried turning off Edge Lighting in Notifications, Advanced Settings, and Display, this includes "Notifications popup also", but it still appears. Could you help us find a specific setting we might have missed or a troubleshooting step to disable this function?

Maybe they are using some 3rd party app, which is causing the problem?

Toggling it off, or Clearing BOTH Cache & Data for Edge Lighting should absolutely get rid of any settings selected..

Maybe you're right... yeah usually clearing cash in data usually helps for most apps that are kind of wigging out with no explanation

Did you try just turning it off?

Yes, it's off. However, it still persists. I noticed that it does it when she turns on her phone screen from the lock screen., and not when I send her messages.

Hi AIRORIA,

Thank you for reaching out and sharing your experience. We understand how frustrating it can be when the Edge Lighting effect continues to appear even after you’ve disabled the Edge Lighting+ option. To make things easier, here are some clear steps you can try:

1. Brief vs. Detailed Pop‑up Style

  • Go to Settings > Notifications > Notification pop‑up style.
  • If Brief is selected, tap Edge lighting style and choose None.
  • Alternatively, switching to Detailed will automatically disable Edge Lighting.

2. Accessibility Settings

  • Go to Settings > Accessibility > Advanced settings > Flash notification.
  • Make sure Screen flash notification is turned OFF, as this can cause the border glow even if Edge Lighting is disabled.

3. Modes and Routines

  • Go to Settings > Modes and Routines.
  • Check if any routine (Work, Sleep, Home, etc.) has “Edge lighting style” added as an action. If so, remove it.

4. Good Lock App

  • Open the Good Lock app.
  • Check modules like Theme Park or Edge Lighting+. If a custom effect (like falling hearts) was applied, switch back to the default theme to remove lingering effects.

Why would they check the Themepark app for Edge Lighting??

The only relevant module is the Edge Lighting module, and to stop the "falling hearts" just toggle Edge Lighting off..
