Hi,

I have edge lighting setup and it works with WhatsApp but not with any of the other apps its setup to work with. I have "Show Edge Lighting" set to always and I have the settings for all apps in question (GMail, Google Messages, MS Authenticator) set to not optimized in "Optimize Battery Usage". I am running Edge Lighting plus with custom colours set for each app in the settings. I also have the latest Android 10 installed and fully patched on an S20+.

Could Samsung please address this issue because its one that a lot of people persistently complain about and is essential to phone usage. What use is a communications device which is unable to notify you of an inbound message? It's an expensive device and I am hard-pressed to say I won't be buying another Samsung device in the future.

I finally got my Gmail to work with edge lighting. I released mine too didnt work and I never noticed it. Open up Gmail>>Settings>>inbox notification>>notify for every message.

Also under Gmail settings>>manage notifications>> show as pop-up and vibrate. I've attached images to make it simpler

Thanks Sully, yes it's all setup like that except for the popup notification which shouldn't effect the edge lighting.

Try enabling all the settings listen in my image. Because it began working for me after I enabled all those settings.

Once you've enabled it all, get another device and send blank emails to your s10. However Gmail may not show the notification. Also not all apps work with edge lighting. However since mine began working, I'm sure yours will work too

No dice. This is a background service issue on Samsung's end and they need to sort things out. Edge notifications work when the screen is powered on.

hmm, weird. Mine works most of the time. Are you on power save mode, or any of your apps on sleep.

Not on power saving and WhatsApp does display the edge notifications. It's not the best experience so far.
