Hi, looking for some ideas/help with the default email app. S23, 14, 6.1
I have 3 accounts, gmail and my office email sync and I get notifications immediately, my Hotmail will only sync when I open the account. I have done the following.

- Deleted and re installed email
- Deleted and re installed the app
- turned off/ on notifications
- played with the sync settings

Any ideas??
Thanks in advance!

Hi Refteck,

It sounds like your Hotmail account isn't syncing in the background, which could be due to battery optimization, sync settings, or account permissions. Here are some things to check:

Check Sync Settings for Hotmail: Open Samsung Email > Menu > Settings > Tap your Hotmail account. Ensure Sync email is enabled and set to Auto (Push) or a short interval.

Remove Battery Optimization for Email App: Go to Settings > Apps > Samsung Email > Battery. Set it to Unrestricted or Optimized (not Restricted).

Check System Sync Settings: Go to Settings > Accounts & Backup > Manage Accounts. Tap Hotmail > Ensure Sync Email is enabled.

Reboot your device and check if it works.

Thank you.

Thank you, Helenna. I went through your list. Most I have tried already but confirmed them all again. I can not see a battery optimization for the Samsung email app.

Check for each account you can set the sync...make sure everything is at push

That has been checked numerous times but doesn't make a difference. Thank you

Where are these mailboxes sourced?
Are you using imap or pop settings verified by each accounts host settings??

Example I setup Outlook using that listing in Email app (not making the mistake selecting exchange cause it isnt)!

Also have MFA setup on my accounts so I have to not only approve an authenticate but approve the app for continued access. This is not trivial btw but required.

Start from scratch take your time ensure credentials are accurate. Don't rush, I'm sure there is a typo or overlooking a step or setting.

I just reread your post. Seems that your Hotmail is setup as pop3 not imap4

Thanks for your reply.
My Hotmail mail is set up as a exchange server. Could that be the issue? BTW I am not knowledgeable in any of this, just research and try to figure it out. Lol

Bingo. Hotmail never was never has been an exchange server!

Select Hotmail during your setup. Only. That's the reason the brands are isolated to make it easier for what works. Way back in the day we had to go to the providers site to get configurations or remember the settings. Delete what you have and setup appropriately for Hotmail

Thank you very much. I'll try that later today and report back.
