Hello Guys,

I don't know if anyone of you have observed that S22 Ultra 256 GB price is CAD 2211 before Taxes at Rogers and Fido, whereas, on the Samsung website it is just for CAD 1579 before Taxes.

When I asked Rogers do they do price match for the devices, so they denied it.

Anyone has any idea why such a major fluctuations in price for the same device with same specifications?

Regards,
Bhushan

Hi, we can understand your concern but as the tax charges are not included in the price.
It may vary from place to place for more information you can contact to the place of purchase.
They will explain to you better.

Yeah, it may vary but how justified it is to vary the prices by 633 CAD?

I'm assuming you mean Manufacturer's Suggested Retail Price.

The MSRP is designed to keep prices at the same level from store to store. But retailers are not required to use this price, and consumers do not always pay the MSRP when they make purchases. Items may be sold for a lower price so a company can reasonably move inventory.

I like to acknowledge your observation by giving you an example of my own. I bought a (unlocked) A53 5G from Samsung Canada. On top of the online discount I also used my voucher. I ended up paying $373 including HST taxes and free shipping. I used PayBright for easy payments. I already had a sim card from my preferred mobile provider. (Public Mobile/Telus)

The same device (128GB) is Priced at Rogers/Fido/Bell for $690 from within their payment plans. This is marked as the Full price in the context of a payment plan. I can't confirm if this is the actual final cost of the device at these providers. It might be more if you include taxes after paying off the device on one of their plans.

I'm not sure if it's even possible to buy a device at Rogers/Fido/Bell paying cash outside their payment plans, so asking for a price match might not even make sense to these providers. Why would they even sell devices outside their plans? That wouldn't make any sense from a retail business perspective.

Nevertheless, a great observation.

Yes the total price for my A53 5g is about 690$ but for me the phone price was 9.99$ per month (for two years) and the rest of the price is the plan for mobile data and callsScreenshot_20220902-164111_My Account_6345_1662151271.jpg

It looks like you are paying $239.76 for your device on this plan. The full price is irrelivant in this case. It's just an RSMP to flex how good their promotions are and to justify their plan pricing. Typical retail 101. They are in business to make profit.
I pay $15/month for a plan at Public Mobile Telus. I get discounts for loyalty, autopay and friends referrals

If you take the phone on a 2yr monthly plan, you will get a monthly rebate which on the end, pretty much matches Samsung's price. That's what they want .. secure you as a customer for at least 2 yrs
Galaxy S
💯 True. What's the point then, showing inflated prices and later providing rebate.
