I purchased new Samsung Galaxy S8 (SM-G950FD) just 02 weeks ago and since last Tuesday (22nd May), all sensors (iris scanner, proximity, gyroscope, compass) are not working. FYI there are no damages since it was never dropped. I suspect if it is due the firmware update 8.0. I tried factory reset and deleting cache but that did not fix the problem. I would highly appreciate if anyone could help fix this problem.

Thanks in advance...

Assuming your self diagnosis is correct that "all sensors" decided to call it quits after an update then I'd say attempt product swap or Samsung service depot asap

His device is the International Exynos version - So depending on where he is located.... Warranty / Swapping it out may not be an option?

I contacted the local phone shop where I purchased and they take about a month for checking since they have to send to Singapore. I'm just thinking if I should wait for next firmware update to check if it'll fix the problem.

Any advice? Thanks.

@TREVOI101 Did you run the diagnostic test available on this Samsung Members site?

Yes I did and all sensors indicated "check required". Should I wait for next firmware update (8.0.1) to see if it'll fix the problem? Any idea when there will be an update?

Thanks.

Yeah seems you got a faulty unit. Buying imported models from Ebay/Amazon means you are warranty-less. Try to contact the seller from which you bought your device, but I strongly advise not buying foreign models as you are completely reliant on the seller for support. Not to mention features like VoLTE, Video calls... are unavailable on imported models because of firmware dependencies

It does have warranty but not in my country. The phone shop I purchased from needs to send the phone to Singapore for inspection before I could claim warranty and this takes about a month.

I'm just thinking if I should wait for a firmware update to see if it'll fix the issue. What do you suggest?

no, I don't think it's faulty . cuz otherwise they wouldn't work in the first place . just don't buy ur phone from eBay or other serv8ces which may sell fake phones
