no notifications

Ever since the oreo update, I have lost text message notifications. Both the flashing light, and sound/vibrate functions have gone the way of the Dodo bird. I have tried the wipe cache, to no avail.

Suggestions folks?

Had a friend have this issue.
1:Find the app in the apps section of the settings. (click on it)
2: Once on App Info go to notifications and click on that.
3:Next press default and check "Importance" make sure it's set to Urgent.
