Before the oneui8 update my phone didn't group notifications, now it is. I cannot find the setting to change it back. Please tell me there is one as this is annoying af. TIA!
Try going to Settings > Notifications & Click on an app where you don't want notifications grouped. Click on Categories & if the app gives you the option to Manage Notification category settings, you might be able to change it back there.
You would likely need to do this for each app that you don't want notifications grouped.
We regret to hear that you are not satisfied with the changes introduced in the recent update. Please be informed that some features have been modified as part of this update. Since you have already proceeded with the update, reverting to the previous version is unfortunately not an option.
While there's no universal toggle to revert to ungrouped notifications, you can adjust settings per app to reduce the impact:
Change Notification Style Per App
Go to Settings > Notifications.
Tap App notifications and select the app you want to modify.
Choose Notification pop-up style.
Select Detailed instead of Brief—this may help show more individual notifications.
Unfortunately, these steps won't fully restore the old behavior of listing each notification separately. Samsung has simplified the notification system, and some customization options were removed in One UI 8.
This notification grouping introduced in Android 16 can be frustrating, since the little counter number is barely visible, so you don't always notice there were multiple notifications there when you swipe/dismiss. I've missed several events by accidentally swiping away several notifications at a time with this new behavior...... definitely annoying! Hopefully OneUI 8.5 at least gives us an option to go back to previous behavior. Thanks!
