Is it normal that every time I use the TikTok app it consumes 5 GB or even a lot of RAM? I've had this problem for a long time. Im pretty sure its because of how samsung preloads apps, since it's a 12gb phone, it will load alot of apps or alot of an app, and since tik tok is probably an app you open alot, it might keep it preloaded because it doesent want to have any "wasted" (unused) ram

And how can I prevent that from happening?

Im pretty sure you can't, and its a "no problem" because if the phone needs to use more ram, it will unload the other apps off of its ram

The problem is that TikTok starts to lag the more RAM it consumes.

tik tok allows for 120fps videos and in full HD, it does cause some phones to start lagging-even the high end ones

I think you should clear the cashe of the app to clear your ram

Some apps are like that. They leak memory and get sluggish. Sometimes you cannot do anything but restart the app.

Hi s24user_0,

No, it's not typical for TikTok to consistently consume 5 GB of RAM on the Galaxy S24 Ultra. While the app can be resource-intensive, such high usage may indicate a software issue, background process overload, or poor optimization.

How to Check and Manage RAM Usage

  1. View App Memory Usage

    • Go to Settings > Battery and Device Care > Memory > Apps using memory.

    • Check TikTok’s real-time and background usage.

  2. Clear TikTok Cache

    • Go to Settings > Apps > TikTok > Storage.

    • Tap Clear Cache (avoid Clear Data unless you want to reset the app).

  3. Disable Background Activity

    • In Settings > Apps > TikTok > Battery, set it to Restricted to limit background processes.

  4. Use Device Maintenance Tools

    • Run Device Care > Memory > Clean Now to free up unused RAM.

  5. Update or Reinstall TikTok

    • Ensure you’re using the latest version.

    • If the issue persists, uninstall and reinstall the app to reset its behavior.

  6. Monitor with Good Lock’s Memory Guardian

    • If you use Good Lock, install Memory Guardian to track and manage RAM usage more precisely.

Sorry, but I don't do TikTok. I hope it works out for you though.
