Hello, Pulse oximetry was once a feature available on my Galaxy Smart phone through the S Health App.
I notice this feature is no longer available, and the phone will only detect heart rate. Where has this feature gone?
I am an Emergency Room provider and this feature would be of amazing benefit to Covid-19 patients we are discharging home.
Is this feature buried in some menu now, I can not find this feature in any third party app either.
Any help would be appreciated
Thank you

This function had been gone for a while from Samsung phones. You can't restore it as there is no sensor on newer devices.

that's unfortunate. I wonder why they did away with it.
the pulse ox doesn't just use the same LED and sensor as the HR sensor? (similar to the devices used in hospitals) if so - seems like it would be easy to bring back.

Also depends on what device you have, some have the sensor but it's just been disabled, sooooo...
What device are you using 🤷‍♂️

Maybe you could answer my question there as to how this helps 🤷?

Yup - I'm using Samsung Health v6.4x which supports the O² Sensor on my S10+

You could Uninstall the current version of Samsung Health & Download & Install Samsung Health version 6.4x
The O² sensor is still working on the S9 & S10 series devices (not sure about others).
But with Samsung Health version 6.4x you can use your device to measure your O² values.
IF you decide to revert to this version - Turn OFF Auto Update on the Play Store & Galaxy Store.

Here's the link to the Samsung app Health v6.4x from apk mirror.

Thanks for the answers @ dejanh and @ mytech

Hey @ mmichie,

Galaxy S20/S20+/S20 Ultra do not support Heart rate sensor.

So we recommend to use wearable device(i.e. Galaxy Watch Active) with smartphone if you want to measure your Heart rate.

You can check available wearable model lists to measure heart rate with Samsung Health app.

Samsung Health > Discover > Product > Accessories.

First, thank you for what you're doing out there. You're awesome.

Secondly, this feature was indeed arbitrarily removed from phones supporting it. Install the version provided by Shaggyskunk1 and follow his instructions. Rest assured, that link is 100% safe. I also use that version on my phone (a Note9) and have access to those very useful features. Though if you have a Note10 or S20 series phone, the required hardware was completely removed.

Smart bunch 🤪
So can anybody answer my question as to what this tells us, like how do we use this to help? Low readings means you're a sicko?
We know some around here don't need confirmation that they are sickos lol 😂 but still in all seriousness how do I use this to help?

Of course Samsung says "we recommend to use wearable device" 🙄

It tells me that Samsung wants to sell you their Wearables - I don't want to buy a Samsung Wearable - I kinda like the watch that I have.

Samsung has been on an unfortunate path of removing functions & features that they ridiculed other OEMs for not having - ie: Headphone Jack (iPhone) & kind of like their invasive advertising - Samsung is focused on selling to the point of ignoring the customers they already have.
