Galaxy SHi Fatwa,
Your concern regarding photo search, tagging, and AI recognition in Samsung Gallery with OneDrive sync is understandable.
Samsung Gallery provides basic AI-based recognition for faces, objects, and scenes when stored locally. However, syncing with OneDrive currently does not support this AI recognition natively.
Microsoft OneDrive has its own search and tagging system, but it does not support AI-driven facial recognition like Google Photos.
Gallery remains dominant for AI-based recognition, but once photos sync to OneDrive, the search capabilities become more limited.
Samsung Gallery’s AI tagging does not transfer to OneDrive.
OneDrive does not automatically recognize pets, objects, or faces like Google Photos.
Manual tagging is required to make search work (which you’ve already tried).
Clear the Gallery cache: Go to Settings > Apps > Gallery > Storage > Clear Cache & Data. This forces reprocessing of photos. (No images will be deleted.)
Turn off & re-enable Gallery Sync: Settings > Accounts & Backup > Samsung Cloud > Sync with OneDrive > Turn Off Sync. Wait a few minutes, then re-enable it.
If you want better AI tagging, Google Photos is currently the best option, but it does not sync natively with Samsung Gallery.
A workaround is to keep a backup in Google Photos (free limited storage) while using OneDrive for larger backups.
Thank you.
