Galaxy SHi, please check if there is any update available. Also, Third-party protective films, cases, stickers, or glass screen protectors may block the sensor and should be removed. It is recommended to use Samsung-approved accessories only.
Once you’re off the call, restart the phone by swiping down from the top of the phone with two fingers to open Quick settings. Tap the Power icon. Tap Restart, and then tap Restart again.
Check Double tap to turn the on-screen motion gesture setting. If the screen doesn’t turn on during or after calls, turn off the Double tap to turn the on-screen feature. Open Settings and then tap Advanced features. Tap Motions and gestures. Tap the switch next to the Double tap to turn on the screen to turn it off.

Galaxy SHi, please try the below steps and get back to us with the results.
1. Settings > Display > Screen Timeout, and increasing the time taken for the screen to switch off while idle.
2. Settings > Advanced Features > Motions and Gestures > Smart Stay > On, to keep the screen on while you're looking at it.
If the screen does happen to turn off while you're on a call, press the Side Key once to re-enable the display.
