2 days ago my s22 ultra developed this issue were it only gets reception when really close to a cell tower. It the city center it works pretty well but as soon as I move away it starts to get worse. I always had 4 bars at my house now I have 0. Sim works fine in my old note 9 I have full bars. Anyone else have this issue recently?

Try the following:

  • Open the Samsung Members app & Click on Support > Phone Diagnostics & run the Diagnostics for the SIM. See if you get any error messages.
  • Reset your Network Settings.
  • Remove & Re-Insert the SIM.

See if that helps?

Thanks, been through these with the network store, sadly no change. They also re provisioned the phone on the network.

Diagnostics is pretty useless IMO, it says phone is aet to 5g and passes, despite no network.

Which Carrier are you with?

It's possible (not saying that it is) that your Carrier could be upgrading some of their Cell Towers in the area where you are getting poor connectivity?

There's an app called "Downdetector", that can also give you some information about different network services.

Here's a screen shot of the current status.

I'm on Eastlink, I moved my sim into her s10 full bars LTE, her Telus sim in my phone 0 bars no service. It's 3 months out of warranty so the Network shop and Samsung won't touch it. I took it to the Samsung authorized repair shop. They told me it's a known issue the Antenna on the main board fails and would be $700 to fix. (Note he didn’t open any thing)

Just wondering is it really that common are are others having these cell issues.

If you do a quick Google Search, you'll find that virtually every single Android device gets the same complaints.

Personally I haven't ever experienced any connection issues related to my devices.

I actually think that it's more a Network / Carrier issue than a device issue.

I've included some screen shots of the "issues" for the S20, S21, S22 and the iPhone...

New s23 ultra viewing your post same sim LTE+ works fine, so it's definitely the phone.

Thanks for your input thoughScreenshot_20230923_102448_Samsung Members.jpg

Did you run the Diagnostics for Mobile Networks?

You could also try Booting into Recovery & Wipe Cache. I do this after every Security Patch OTA. It can clear out any fragmented files, which can cause some issues.

I did diagnostics and it passed fine. I haven't tried booting in recovery, thanks I'll give that a try when I get home.

This could be a problem with your Carrier having an error in your account setup in their system.

I had a similar issue that I blamed on a problem with my S10 getting reception and when I got my S22 the problem was still there even after trying a new sim and everything I could think of.

I contacted help desk with my Carrier which is Telus and they finally found the error in their system and everything has been good since then.
