So, it's Jan 7, 2025, and no Dec security patch in Canada for the S23 Ultra! There's also been no communication about it either. Is Samsung Canada just going to wait for One UI 7 to come out instead, leaving our phones vulnerable due to outdated updates?

Be careful what questions you ask in here....some people can become triggered. Just thank your lucky stars that Samsung grants you the honor and privilege of using their device.

Eh, I'm not going to worry about people being triggered by asking technical questions. Let them pop off and be kicked out of here. As for me, I'll ask important questions pertaining to my purchased device. Samsung should always be grateful and helpful for the money I choose to give them to continue to prosper as a company! 😊👏

The update process was SUPPOSED to have changed in 2018 with Samsung's S9 phones.. Samsung had confirmed that they would be participating in Project Treble.. Many people will likely have no idea, or recollection about it.

Obviously, it never got anywhere.

Thanks for sharing that. I've personally never heard about this but I've also only been with Samsung since 2021. I am curious to see how the S25 series will implement updates as I've read that they will auto download updates in the background and you'll just get a notification to install it, but it's supposed to be far more streamlined.... But we will see I guess. I still don't know why Samsung Canada has fallen off the band wagon the last few months with security updates. Not super worried about it but it is for sure concerning since I am still planning on keeping my S23 Ultra for maybe another year.

Yeah, it was pretty poor that the S23 series was left in the weeds from I think August.. until November..

I was pretty surprised, as Samsung had really improved compared to a few years ago with their Security Patch Updates.

I can only think that Samsung Canada's software division is pretty thin..

I am quite convinced that Samsung's @Helenna is a completely different person. So much so that I posted about the really noticeable difference in the answers coming from them! Huge improvement.

I am likely to get the S25 Ultra myself, as I had skipped the 21,& 22 series hoping for the external sd card to get back.. but.

I really like my S23 Ultra, it's way better than the S20 Ultra, other than the sd card slot is gone.

Yeah I hear ya! I'm going to take my time and see how the S25 Ultra stacks up, but I think I may finally lean towards the next gen Z Flip. I'm still pretty happy with the S23 Ultra so I don't mind even waiting until the S26 releases as well!

Waiting for the S26 Ultra may be a wise decision, especially when it comes to the battery.. there's rumors of 7 to 8 MaH batteries in the future.

As for the Flip / Fold devices.. I'm not sure.. still seeing some reports regarding the hinges & screen protectors.. but seems to be less?

Yeah I've been closely watching. They are not yet up to my standards in regards to hardware yet, so I will probably still stick to the S Ultra line and be happy! I still haven't caught onto the AI thing either as I'm waiting to see how it will be better integrated into the phone ecosystem.. I'm also not keen on paying $26+ a month for that kind of service if it's not a crucial part of my phone use...

Yes, I'm not particularly interested in A.I. unless it's only on the device.. not remotely interested in sharing my data, habits, usage with Samsung or Google.
