The battery on my Galaxy S8 PLUS has suddenly got hot and swollen and caused screen damage and the back to partially separate from the phone. The phone is 2ish years old.  I've heard that Samsung would replace a swollen phone regardless if the warranty is up because the battery is faulty. How do I go about that ? Will Samsung do something about the damage caused by their faulty batteries?

I check with Samsung repair and the quote is $430. jeez, does a flagship phone only last 2 years now?

I was a life time user for Samsung phones and recommended my family to buy Samsung phones, but this S8 PLUS gives me concern. I was really careful with it and I only used the Samsung charger but it drains 20% battery overnight just sitting there with GPS/bluetooth etc turned off; when I check online a lot of people say their S8 does that. But now it swells up, the battery sure seems to be faulty. I have posted my pictures to several media to get opinions, and here they are:

Don't know what is covered or not - But STOP using it.
The battery is clearly damaged regardless of the cause - FWIW - I've only ever seen a swollen battery twice in over 10 years.
My S8+ Never had any issues with the battery FYI - So I don't think that it's a battery issue related to any specific device.

Please listen to @Shaggyskunk1
I would definately not use this device in that condition!
That's a serious accident waiting to happen!!
I don't think I've ever seen a phone battery that bulged 😳
Hopefully you can find a resolution 🤙
But please for the sake of your face being permanently etched with acid, or worse... SHUT ER DOWN!!
Unless you have a fugly face and you think that an explosion on the side of it might help 🤣🙃🤪

I had the same thing happen with my old s7. It didn't damage the screen so I was able to replace just the battery. Due to the damaged screen, you will most likely need a new phone.

Hi eye8, Sorry for the inconvenience caused to you. Please visit any nearest authorized service center with an appointment so that they will fix it and it would be a paid service (if over 2 years).

hi Keagan .... I am in need of assistance please.. I have only owned Galaxy cell phones since they have come out. That being said never had an issue until my S9+ I started having issues last year where my phone conversations were no longer private and a person I knew had a personal conversation recorded on her voicemail. No where did the phone indicate that there was a second person added to the line. During this call my phone was in my vehicle's stand so I had a visual of the screen at all times and had used the voice activation. The phone also dialed when it wanted to (multiple times) The customer service requested that I take the phone to factory settings...it took awhile as I was afraid to loose pictures/videos etc of my deceased Father.. I requested aid to transfer files and was not told I would loose info in my apps or my apps all together...rep was not completely aware of the process and ramifications. After this the issues with the dialing still occurs. I had taken my phone out of it's case and it slipped from my hand and cracked...it was it mint condition prior to this... I have been told that now (even though I called in to have everything documented) there is nothing that can be done... ??? not satisfied with this response as everything should be on file. .since the phone now heats up to the point that it shuts it's self off. This is while using Samsung products. I use this for a small business and the issues with this phone is multiplying...I am so wishing that I had never traded in my S7 as I never had issues with any of my previous Samsung phones. I hope you can help.

Hi Zinger, As Samsung's warranty doesn't cover physical damages. Samsung provides 12 months warranty from the date of purchase of the phone. Unfortunately, the screen crack would be not covered under warranty. If you have purchased Samsung Care+ plan then you can avail it. If the phone is under warranty, you can get other issues fixed from any Samsung authorized service centers with an appointment.
