Hey, what's up with the August security update? Why is it always late? Shouldn't it be available at the beginning of the month?

I believe that Google has an agreement with the OEMs, where the OEMs must provide the Monthly Security Patch Updates within 90 of Google providing the Vulnerabilities Patches.

Only Google devices receive the Secure updates within the first few days of the month.

We all did. Still under 90 days. All OEMs that have theie own UI will ratify theie own bug fixes and security patches along with it to protect users on their devices.

Ex send an iPhone user ""; with another character right now and it'll force their device to reload the UI lol. That's an example we're Apple will have to ensure is fixed on theie devices along all ios versions supported.

They're basic text characters (open & end quote for 1st 2) and semi;colon the last. Being 3 characters part of 4 causes the issue.

EDIT: Sorry for last post about this - incorrect info. Sending to an iPhone user doesn't cause the issue its just the end user themselves using it in Settings to search.

"Typing the same characters into the Settings app search interface will cause the Settings app to crash, but putting it in a Spotlight search doesn't seem to impact anything. The respring seemed to only happen on devices running iOS 17 when we tested, but putting those characters into a search interface on a device running iOS 18 does result in some odd behavior, such as the characters disappearing and the Settings app crashing.

You can actually type in just "": and any other character to cause the respring to happen, so it's something related to the first three symbols in a four character sequence.

Character bugs have in the past spread though Messages and have allowed users to crash the iPhones of others, but this is a much more insignificant issue because the ‌iPhone‌ owner needs to manually type (or paste) the characters into a search interface. There does not appear to be a way to affect an ‌iPhone‌ through Messages or another texting platform."

It seems samsung does not care about security of devices specially in canada which is a big problem as security is far important than the device itself. Wrong buy as iPhone in this sense is far superior. If until Aug 23rd no security update then when? Hey samsung we paid you for a device and ask for equal service.

Security is the most important thing on a cell phone. Those who just play games won't know about it.
