how can I get rid of a virus on my phone. it shows up as opt out and random ads pop up on my screen.

opt out? care to send a screenshot so I can help you? You can try an Antivirus scan first. Go to the Play Store and download Malwarebytes. Update the database and do a full scan (activate the free Premium trial if it has not done so by itself)

I can vouch for malwarebytes really good for getting rid of viruses. I have it on all my devices as well as my PC

I would've suggested to use the built-in AV, but Samsung uses McAfee, which is just bad

Android dont get viruses. The one you have is an adware which must be wrongfully telling you that their is a virus so that you download their antivirus program.

yeah get any antivirus app from play store also delete any app that you downloaded which made the ads appear after it.
